About

I’m Diana Matoso, a Portuguese multidisciplinary designer, visual artist and maker whose practice moves between design, image, space, matter and nature.

With a background in Product Design, I have developed a varied practice spanning visual communication, web design, photography, video, animation, creative production, installations, workshops and gardening.

Over the years, I’ve worked with independent artists, cultural organisations, festivals and small businesses, moving between digital and physical environments and between individual and collaborative projects.

Alongside commissioned work, I’ve explored ways of transforming discarded materials into useful, playful or expressive objects, developed creative reuse workshops through REcreate, and contributed to cultural projects through design, construction, decoration and moving image. My more recent interests include plant-based textile dyes, mineral pigments and other materials derived from natural resources.

What connects these different areas is an interest in understanding how things work, exploring possibilities and turning ideas into something tangible. I value experimentation, resourcefulness, collaboration and approaches that make thoughtful use of the materials and resources around us.

Ds WAYS is a space for bringing these interests together — through design, making, growing and the continuous process of learning.
